St. Patrick's day was as fun as always, lots of pinching and lots of green:) Here is a little treat I made the kids for the occasion. They downed it in about 2 minutes. My cute little kids will only let me take pictures of them if they make funny faces. I will take what I can get.
Soccer has officially started!!! Saturday was every one's first game. Kevin is coaching Tanner and Kaden's teams, and if that is not enough he is on 2 indoor soccer teams and one outdoor. Here are the boys team names/sponsors, Kali is the Breakers but they did not put her name on the back. Kali is devastated by the way that her team is pink. Out of all the colors she gets pink. She did pretty good considering that the last time she played she was 4 and had to hold on to the coaches or Kevin's hand the whole game. They unfortunately lost their first game but we got 7 more to go we'll get them next time. Tanner played the same time as Kali and my camera died so I got no pictures. His team won!! Tanner scored one of the goals. Kaden's team also won, he did awesome!! He has improved so much from the fall. He has a new accessory this year, a sweat band, so he can see where he is going. Kevin's first outdoor game is today I wish him luck.
Today Tanner had his first school soccer game. It was so cold I think is was about 50 degrees and windy. He sat on the bench the first part, but then was put in for a lot of the game. Here he is, the bench warmer.
Coach June giving him some last minute tips before he goes in. Tanner was sick when they passed out numbers. He got lucky #13:) Here is Tanner's goal assist kick. They won 5-0!!!! way to start out the season A G Cox!!!!!
This past weekend we all went up to Raleigh because Kevin had to take a class for work on Sunday. We went to see Alice in Wonderland at the Imax (cute but not worth the money for Imax 3D). We had a picnic at the park and played a little soccer. It was so nice out.
The trees are starting to bloom. This is my favorite time of year. While we were up in Raleigh, Nana called and said she wanted to visit, so Kevin told her we would be in Raleigh for 2 more days, so she jumped on a plane, flew from Kauai, and got here the next evening. It was a great surprise. The joys of flying stand by. Unfortunately the day we got back the boys got so sick. They both woke up throwing up. So they camped out on the couch for 2 days. We were just lucky no one else got this awful bug. It was such a nice day that the boys moved the party out on the tramp and soaked up some vitamin D. They layed out there for about 3 hours, it made Kaden feel a little better. We did nothing adventurous with Nana, with the boys being sick and she just having surgery on her shoulder, but we still had a great visit with her. We played lots of games of Scattergories and Rummikub. Thanks for coming Nana, it was so good to see you.
This week Tanner tried out for his middle school's soccer team, and today he found out that he MADE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of him for even trying. He has only played soccer when he was 3 and last fall, so he isn't as experienced as some of the boys. He is the man, I can't wait to go watch him play. YEAAAAA TANNER!!!! Of coarse Kevin is proud also. Soccer is his sport, he has played pretty much every year since he was 3 so he is stoked that Tanner has now found a love for soccer.
Here is Kali letting us all know that it has snowed two times in one winter, she was so excited!! It started about 10:00 at night. The next we woke up to 6 inches of great packing snow, unlike the last storm when it was so icy and wet. Cute Kevin make hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls for all the neighborhood kids, he is so thoughtful. All the kids taking a break from the snow, drinking their hot chocolate Kali made a fort with her friend Haiden and our neighbor Wade. It was huge. Here they are hiding from the snowball war. The gang He is out to get some one, you can see it in his eyes Haiden and Kali's snowman family. Kali taking a well deserved rest in a chair they made. The kids played outside for probably 5 hours. They are crazy. Valentines Day!! Kevin got me these beautiful flowers, I just hope I don't kill them before we can plant them outside. The boys had a valentines dance at school, these are the best pictures I could get. They wouldn't dress up, but they made sure that their hair was just right. They had a great time. Kaden cooperates a little better than Tanner. Kali loves to get into the spirit of any holiday It doesn't matter if it matches as long as it is the color of the holiday. We made waffles with strawberry syrup and whip cream for dinner, here is Kali's creation.
My boys have some friends Hannah and Breanna who live on the other side of the neighborhood. Yesterday Kaden came in and asked me if they could walk them home. I said "yes" and was very proud of having such sweet gentlemen for sons. After they left it made me smile because I remember when Me, Amy, Brittney, Jeff, Jared, Sima, Jill, Brittney, Matt, Sam (sorry if I left anyone out) would walk Melissa home. It was such a great memory. That was such a great time in my life. It also made me sad because it wasn't that long ago and now my boys are that age and growing up way to fast.
This is what we woke up to Saturday morning!! The kids were so excited, they had been predicting snow for a few days now but we never take the weatherman serious, they tend to over react to storms here. By the time we woke up it was not snowing any more just wet cold sleet. The kids played for hours, only coming in to eat and dry their clothes that had got soaked through their snow stuff, the snow was so wet. It was soooo cold, my kids are crazy. On Sunday everything was frozen. The trees were so beautiful. These poor trees were about to snap, I am surprised they didn't. They usually are about 5 feet above the kids heads. We went out and ice skated all around the yard. The snow was frozen solid. You have to be creative when you don't have any snow equipment. They found out that this shovel slid the best down our slight slope in the yard. We tried a boogie board with a plastic bag over it, but it did not work when there are no hills. Everything was starting to melt a little by mid morning, but we got the call that school was going to be canceled on Monday due to ice, they are so weird about things here. And today being Monday, is beautiful and sunny with dry roads.
