the warm before the storm

Yesterday was so warm (75 degrees) I couldn't stand to stay inside. Kevin had to go to the OR for some orientation stuff, so I loaded up the bikes and took the kids to a local park . There were a few trails through the trees. It was so much fun.

f

We played at the park afterwards, see the storm a brew'n.
I rained all night last night, and is still going strong today, and it is cold. I'm glad we were able to enjoy it while it lasted.

A pat on my back

Christmas Party

Yesterday we had our ward Christmas party. This has been my project over the last 3 weeks. K, as you might have remember reading about in a earlier post, I really have no obligation in this whole ordeal. Kevin has so busy with school that I have been taking over his position in the activities committee. I enjoy it very much. Amelia is my friend that is the head honcho of the whole thing, just happened to get very sick a week and a half before the party. And had to have surgery the day before. So now I am planning this party and taking care of her 3 kids while she is on bed rest. Which I don't mind. I am glad I am in the position that I can help. So everything is going well, I have made the angle halo's, the wise men props, the donkey's and sheep hats for the Nativity scene for the program. I have made all the 12 days of Christmas #'s for another part of the program. I have made all 50 goodie bags for the kids. My jello salad, and dessert, and ham. Gone grocery shopping for the rolls. Decorated the gym with all my Christmas decoration from my house. Of coarse I had a little help from Julie, and Sonja and my sweet husband (who might I remind you is in is charge.) It this is not enough, my neighbor who is going through a divorce called me 2 hours before I had to leave to be at the church and asked if I could watch his 3 kids, and have them sleep over, why not. I had to also get on the stage and MC the first part of the dinner by welcoming everyone. Everything went smoothly during dinner. Then when the program was about to start, someone realised that the carpet in the chapel was getting soaked (it was raining). They are adding on to our building so the rain was just pouring in. Kevin spent the next hour and a half on the roof hammering on a tarp in the dark in the rain. He came in soaked note the last picture on this post. So I had a great time and got many compliments, like that is the biggest turn out ever, and the best show in 15 years, it made me feel good to be a part of it all.

The primary did the Nativity scene, it turned out really great thanks to Julie, she practically did it all.
Kali and her friend Hayley as angles
Tanner was asked to be Joseph but he is to cool for that. I think he regreted it after we were there and the kids were having so much fun.
Kevin soaked to the bone. He is so sore today. He was up on the roof in his sandals, smart I know. One guy helping stepped on a nail and it went all the way through his shoe and foot. Kevin just got wet, cold and sore from the whole thing.

my amazing husband

Kevin finished up his third semester today, he had 4 classes and got all A's. He is the most amazing person I have met. He gets up every morning knowing he has to study for hours, yet he still does it every day, and he is not grumpy (most of the time). He has been working so hard so he deserves the break he gets over the next couple of weeks. Way to go Kevie you are awesome.

Happy Birthday Dad and It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

So it is my dad's b-day, I called my mom and dad's house for a fudge recipe, my dad answered the phone, we talked for a little while, then I asked if mom was home so I could get the recipe, she wasn't so I asked if he could find it. He gave it to me, I said thanks and we said our good byes. A minute later I looked at my calender and noticed in big bold letters. DAD'S BIRTHDAY. I knew it was his birthday but my brain works in mysterious ways. So of course I called him right back and apologized over and over. He is the best Dad/Grandpa any one could ask for. I'm glad he's mine. Love you Dad
As to carry on my family tradition, me and the kids made gingerbread houses. And of course you have to wear the Santa hat while you do it. It's way messy and a little frustrating but we always have a good time. The kids are sporting the Santa mustaches.

Winterville had a Christmas parade, (it size) I compare it to Garden City Berry Day's Parade. It was way fun for the kids, and my neighbor Chad who got more candy than the kids.
It was so hot, we have been having temps in the high 70's. It's hard to get into the groove of Christmas when it is so hot outside.

Me and the kids decorated the tree the day after Thanksgiving, but I forgot to take any pictures so Kali wanted to recreate it.
