A beautiful sunset on the Outer Banks. I'm still trying to figure this blog thing out, so none of my pictures are in order. A quick recap of our trip. We started out on Friday 29 drove about 155 miles to Nags Head then went north to Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills, then we drove down the outer banks were if you look on a map of the United States there is just a sliver on land east of NC called the Outer Banks. When you drive down the road most of the time you can see the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Pamlico Sound on the other it is beautiful. Then we drove another 40 miles or so to Buxton to spend the night. We saw Cape Hatteras in the morning and then rode the ferry over to Ocracoke. Then back home. I wish you could all see this out here it is so amazing.

We had to take a ferry boat across the Hatteras Inlet to Ocracoke another neat little island on the Outer Banks. Even though it was only about 65 degrees and the water temperature 50 degrees Kevin wanted to go to the beach. He drove out on the beach and we played around for about 30 minutes, we needed to catch another ferry back to Swans Quarters so we could drive back home. But when we got back in the car Kevin put the car in drive and stepped on the gas and you could hear the car go but it wasn't going anywhere, yep you guessed it we got stuck. And he was calling me a party pooper for not wanting to go to the beach. After the ranger and some other nice people helped us and let half the air out of our tires we were off. And yes we missed our ferry by about 2 minutes so we had to drive back around the way we came. It only added about 30 miles to our trip. The scenery was beautiful so I'm not complaining.

We also went to a town called Nags Head a unique beach town, north about 10 miles is Kitty Hawk, and Kill Devil Hills were the Wright Brother Memorial is. It was really cool I think my Dad would really like it. This first picture is where the plane took off on December 17, 1903. That shadowy line in front of the big rock is a track from a railroad. It was too sandy to rely on wheels to the Wright Bros. had the plane slide down the track and the little white dot in the center of the picture is the final resting spot of the first flight 59 seconds long and 852 feet.

Behind these cute people is were the Wright Brothers flew there planes.

The kids in a bronze replica of the first plane with orville.

We spent the night a little town called Buxton. Kevin and I woke up early while the kids were still sleeping to watch the sun rise. It was very romantic.

This is Cape Hatteras one of the many lighthouses on the Outer Banks of NC, a few years ago they had to move it out of its original spot because the ocean was eating away at the land and it would eventually crumble into the ocean. It is amazing to see this thing and think they moved it, it is huge and over 100 years old.

That trip sounds like so much fun. That is Joey's dream to go Kitty Hawk and the Wright Brothers- since he does that kind of stuff for a job. What a beautiful place you got to visit.

Wow - very awesome trip! I love road trips. Speaking of which - Brandon and I are thinking of Road Tripping this summer from Texas to North Carolina to visit! What do ya think of that? Not sure if it will pan out just yet - but we are looking into it.
