Spring Break 2012

This year we were invited to go to St. George with my family for spring break. They have done it for a few years but this is the first year we have been able to go. It was one of the best vacations we have had. On our way to St George we stopped by Uncle Jims, right in the middle of nowhere AZ. We had yummy hamburgers and a great tour of his oasis in the middle of the desert. He lives on 40 acres, outside of Yucca Az.
Uncle Jim loves knives and guns, my kids were in heaven. I hate them but some times you have to let your kids do stuff even if you don't agree. Each kid got 3 knives, even Kevin and I got one.
The kids shot bebe guns for hoursLove the desert

We went on a little walk on Jims property, and ran into a rattlesnake. We were about 10 feet away, but we heard the rattle and saw it slitter away. We all about messed our pants.
Then we were able to shoot real guns, sorry Uncle Jim I don't remember what we shot but it was really cool. My kids have never shot a gun before.
one of them had quite the kick.
we even let Kali do it. Scarrrrry

bullet shell grill
Barrel cactusWe also found a horney toad and cow bones. Oh and guess why Kaden has a bandaid on his thumb? Yes you guessed it, his new knife:)
Kali a little unsure about holding it. The kids loved Uncle Jims they had the best time and want to go back real soon.
We spent the night in Vegas. It is such a classy place.
We always like to see the Bellagio has going on, it never disappoints

We finally arrived in St. George, the kids wasted no time going swimming.
This is the condo's we stayed in. Thanks to my mom and dad.

The first day we decided to go into Zions (now I can say I have been there) We were going to hike the Angel Landing trail. Here we are fueling up for the trek.
We were warned that this is a very hard, very scary, and very amazing hike. We were all so excited.
There was 2 miles of switch backs up about 1400 feet.
Taking a break waiting for the ones with short legs to catch up

Most of the crew, Kevin is taking the picture, and Mom and Mylie are taking their time

We made it to the top, now the real fun begins. The last .5 miles up with 1400 feet of sheer cliffs on both sides. You have to hold on to chains some of the time to keep you from falling to your death
The kids taking a break and feeding the wild life.

Here we go, Amy was either brave enough or crazy enough to bring her kids. Mom and Arie stayed back. I don't think we realized how scary it was.
The mountain in front of us is the ultimate goal.

Looking back on where we came from
My amazing dad, he has done this hike 3 times now.
We made it to the top.

Kaden planking on top of the world
This just shows you how high we really were. That is a road.
Another look back, it still makes me lose my stomach just looking at the pictures
It was so crowed.

See the trail on the far right.
One of the skinniest part of the trail
It amazes me that plants can grow on top of a 1400 foot rock, and I can't get my tomatoes to grow with water and great soil and fertilizer

These young adults came up to Ethan and told him that when he gets back down to find Lance (who didn't dare to climb) and tell him (an army solider) that he just climbed Angels Landing. That make Ethan feel real cool.

Kevin taking in a well deserved view.

We made it down, this picture does not even start to show how amazing this hike was. Thanks Mom and Dad for taking us there.

On the way back we saw these ostriches, the kids wanted to get out and say hi.
Just hanging out at the condo.
Saturday was St. Patricks day!!!!
A fun little treat I made.
We also went for a fun bike ride, We drive up to the top of this canyon and ride down. Kali and Ethan took off right a way, then Mylie kept skidding and falling off her bike so Jeff had to hold her on his bike, Tanner got a flat tire. I finally caught up with Kali and Ethan, and this is what I see. Ha Ha Tanner rode Mylies bike down.
This is where I found Kali and Ethan hiding out.
The gang minus me.
Me trying to get into the picture
almost there
Cheese!!!!
How cute are they
Kali wanted a turn on Mylies bike as well
once you get to the bottom you have to get back up to the top to get the other car. My cute Tanner riding in the back with me.
Me, Kevin, Tanner, Kaden and my mom went on a hike to find petroglyphs, way cool

Happy St. Patty's Day!!!!!
The last day we went on another hike. The weather was a lot colder 40 degrees and it hailed on us half the time but again another amazing hike.
The girls in the ultimate tree house.

This was a low key hike, we were able to wonder and chat, it was a great time.

I can't keep this kid out of the trees
Yes it is hailing and yes Kaden has his shirt off. I dont get it.

Weston, Brandon, and Xander got to finally join us.
So pretty

Way cool waterfalls

Do you see the snail?
Wes, in my blog yea
cliff hanger
That would of been so cold if we fell in, good thing no one did

It would hail for 1 minute then be sunny and hail again a few minutes later.
Kevin and Xander
And sadly we had to go home, the kids wanted to stay forever. It was such a great time. I hope we are able to do it again next spring break.
