The 5th day we went on a 8 mile hike to the Hanakapi;ai Falls. Kevin and I hiked half the hike last time we came, but it had been to rainy and we were only able to go half way, we never made it back to the falls. So the think I was looking forward to the most this trip was seeing the waterfall.
This is one of my favorite hikes I have been on It is breathtakingly beautiful
The Napali coast line
A resting spot 1/2 into the hike, long way to go kiddos
we all still have smiles, well most of us. Kali was not excited about this hike, but ended up having a good time.
It was so nice and sunny the whole time. I rained on Kevin and I last time.
This is the Ocean, or the half way mark. Last time the river was way to high to cross last time so we were excited to see the water low.
Great shots by Kevin
down on the beach there were piles of rocks everywhere
The waves were huge
on to the second half of the hike. 2 more miles to the falls
this bamboo was so big
Kali carving her name
nice leaf Kaden
Our first view of the falls
we had to cross the river a few times
the water was so cold, probably in the 50's
Kevin went first, then Tanner, Kaden followed, and Kali finally went. I got in to my waist and decided it was not worth it, and someone had to take pictures.
a view from behind the falls
After we played in the water for a while we had a picnic
what a spot for a picnic
see the reflection of the falls
3/4 of the way done, we are back at the beach
Tanner and Kaden had to add their own pile of rocks
The waves were so big and blue, I have never seen such big waves in person.
love the trees
I don't think I got one picture of Kaden not pulling a face
They have ferrel cats everywhere, they are so cute, but you dont want to touch them
We saw probably saw 50 whales. See the tail?
almost done. My kids were such troopers we did it!!!
The plan was to finish the hike and go snorkeling at Kaa Beach, our favorite place to snorkel. but the waves were to big:(
so we sat and watch Kevin snorkel.
On Thursday the 6th day Kathi took me to a botanical garden. It was so pretty and I saw plants I have never seen before.
They had so many bronze statue all over the gardens
This is Kathi's favorite flower, I think it was mine too.
I wish we were there about a week later because the Plumeria was just starting to bloom. I love those trees.
Rainbow Eucalyptus
Orchids
While Kathi and I were at the gardens, Dave, Kevin and the kids went mini golfing. Looked like a beautiful coarse
So cute
One night Kevin and I got a hotel room to have our own little vacation on our vacation. It was nice we went to dinner and in the morning we rented bikes and went on a beautiful bike ride up the coast.
We got home early in the morning and went to the beach again. We were over hiking we just wanted to spend the rest of the time and the beach vegging out.
A little out of order, but Kevin and Dave went on a helicopter ride after mini golfing. They wanted me to go but I just couldn't get myself to do it. I was a chicken.
Jurassic Falls
More whales
I believe this point is the wettest place on earth, It is usually covered in clouds but they were lucky enough to see it.
While the boys were up in the air we went out to the lighthouse to look for whales
Love my kids so much
Nana and the kiddos
Back at the beach. We loved Kealia Beach so we went there a lot. It was very rainy this day we either had to go to the car or get in the ocean. It would rain for about 10 minutes then be sunny, rain, sun, rain, sun.
Water camera's are fun
I'm not complaining but 10 days in Hawaii is exhausting. We had so much fun but we were ready just to chill. The best place to do that is Kalipaki Beach. We snorkeled a little. Not a good snorkeling beach though. No fish.
Nana and Papa
We didn't have any balls of Frisbee's to play with, so Tanner found a golf ball in the ocean while snorkeling. They made up this game that ended up being really fun. They would knock over eachothers can with the golf ball.
My handsome hubby
The light it Hawaii is amazing for pictures
The second to last day we spent at Kalipaki Beach.
Cute surfers
We rented at stand up paddle board this day. It was kind of fun, I good work out
Kaden thought it would be fun to go all the way out to this buoy, Kathi was freaking out because it you go to far out the current can carry you out to sea. Kaden struggled to get back. I was freaking out too.
When he got back he said I was never scared. I don't believe him
I like this because I can get in the water and not even get wet.
Kali hitching a ride.
Kalipaki Beach is a port for cruise ships. While we were there this ship was leaving. This is the ship Kevin and I went on when we went on our cruise to Alaska
Juggling mud balls
Tanner was missing Kelsey so much to have fun this day:)
One last chance surfing, Kaden was the only one who went. He loved it. He got real good
We can't go to Hawaii and not go golfing. Tanner was old enough to drive his cart this time. He was so excited.
It was so stormy this day. So really the only real bad stormy days while we were there were the first and the last, the rest of the week was perfect.
It rained hard for the first 7 holes but it actually turned out to be good weather by the end
I can't get over the beauty on Kauai
Kaden was getting board, he wanted to drive so bad.
Tanner thought he was so funny leaving Kaden.
We were lucky enough to see a rainbow right as we were finishing the round.
cute Kal
We didn't leave home until 10 at night so that last night we cracked open the coconuts that Kali had collected during our time there. It is really hard to open up a coconut.
Thank you again Kathi and Dave for a great vacation. We love see you, and what a great place to visit you in laws:)
