Kaua'i

Kevin and I took a long overdue trip alone to Kaua'i. It has been 5 years since we have done this. My most wonderful mom in the whole wide world came to stay with the kiddos so we could do this. She had to run them to all sorts of activities, she did great and they all got to the things they needed to. Thanks Mom you are the best.It was rainy a lot of the time but we did get a good amount of sunshine.

Kevin's favorite thing to do this trip was whale watching. He did spot quite a few.
Ocean life is so fascinating and creepy to me.

I got my nails painted all pretty for the trip.

Kevin loves the food channel, this little shack was featured on some show, It was yummy, I got a veggidog with mango relish and Hawaiian mustard.

See the whale in the distance?
No matter where you take a picture in Kaua'i it turns out amazing

We went on 3 hikes, this one was to an overlook of Shipwrecks beach. Yeah I got a little burnt.

This is a Monk Seal. There are only 1100 in existence and only 30-40 stick around Kaua'i. When they come up on the beaches they put up ropes so people wont bother them. They are so cute

We went golfing again with Nana and Papa. It is such a gorgeous golf coarse

I am not a very good golfer, ok I am a terrible golfer. I was done by about the 5th hole. So I just enjoyed myself driving the golf cart and putting flowers in my hair.

This is Tunnels beach.
Huge snail
This is my favorite beach Ke'e. We are just chilling after a 4 mile hike to a 1,000 foot waterfall. Unfortunally we could not make it to the waterfall, it has been to rainy and there was a river that was to high to cross safely. But it was an amazing hike.
We only brought a water camera, so I hiked back up about 1/4 mile after the hike because I just couldn't not take a million pictures. This hike was one of the best things I have done.
You would hike over rocks, mud, roots, waterfalls. We didn't bring shoes so before we went we went to a second hand store and bought 2 pair of tennis shoes for $7.00. Mine fell apart about 1/4 of the way through. It was so muddy the suction is what did them in I think.
An amazing view from the top of the mountain.

Some of the of the ruff terrain.

After the hike we hung out a the beach and had lunch. Kevin went snorkeling, I took a nap.

I was so rainy while we were there and 3 weeks before, so the waterfall were all over and running strong.

We also went Kayaking. Another must do if you ever go to Kaua'i.

We Kayaked to the Fern Grotto.
This is where we went on our third hike. Unfortunally my camera died and we got no pictures of the hike. It was spectacular. Very muddy and beautiful. We hiked along and across a river, there was a huge waterfall at the end.
Kevin's favorite Hawaiian drink
The last night we were there we got to visit one of Dave and Kathi's friends house, It was up on a cliff over looking this bay.
So pretty.
We planned the trip so we would have a 7 hour lay over on Oahu. We rode the city bus to Pearl Harbor.
It was a very solemn place, I loved learning about the history of the place.
Really?
Before we went back to the airport, we stopped for lunch at a restaurant near Pearl Harbor. Then we headed home. Every couple needs to do this, I love my kids and love my everyday life, but it is so worth taking a little time out for yourself and your marriage. I'm glad I have a husband that pushes me to do things like this. It makes me a happier mom and wife. Love you Kevin thanks for another amazing adventure.
